IMPACT

Sports Equipment:

Footballs to be used for after school clubs ran by volunteers two nights per week. This has enabled each child to develop individual skills using their own ball.

Swimming & Swimming Transport. Swimming is a statuary curriculum area in school. This year all children from year three to six have had six lessons.

External Advisors:

Gym instructors have improved teaching and learning by teaching model lessons, watched by class teachers. Teachers now feel more confident to teach curriculum gymnastics in school.

Sports Partnership

Membership of this group enables our children to participate in sports coaching and local schools competitions. This includes:

  • Tennis
  • Kinder cricket
  • Multi skills
  • Consortium tournaments
  • Football Festival
  • Gymnastics Festival
  • Netball Festival
  • Gifted & talented

Due to skilled specialist coaches children’s skills have improved, multi skills sessions showed year one and two children were lacking in throwing and catching skills, these were worked on during after school sessions and the children’s ability improved.

PE/Sport Scheme of work

“Champions sport, health, fitness,” scheme of work has been purchased and implemented throughout key stage one and two from September 2015. This scheme covers areas such as Throwing and catching in year one, Active Athletics in year three and Young Olympians in year six.  Following a quick survey of teacher’s thoughts about the scheme all are very positive and there is a growing confidence in subject expertise and knowledge.

Life Education Bus

The Life Education Bus returned to school in September, their specially trained and equipped educators came in their bus to deliver exciting and fun lessons that the children will remember. Areas covered include: keeping clean for the Nursery children, keeping healthy and relationships in year four.

Jigsaw PHSE Scheme of work

Jigsaw Scheme of work has been purchased and implemented throughout the Key Stages from September 2015. Areas covered include:

  • Being me in my world
  • Celebrating Differences
  • Dreams and Goals
  • Healthy Me
  • Relationships
  • Changing Me

It has been early days for the new Scheme, but positive feedback from teacher and children has indicated that it is having a positive impact on Personal, Social, Cultural and Spiritual development.
